The TRANSHUMANIST CEPHALOPOD EVOLUTON training begins with a presentation of her film "Your Urge To Breathe Is A Lie (2019, 25' HD)" Simun's film follows scientists, dancers, engineers, synchronized swimmers and the artist-as-freediver in their attempts to reclaim transhumanism from the singularists and evolve the human species based on the model organism of the cephalopod (octopus, squid, cuttlefish, nautilus).

Following the film, Simun will guide us through a 60-minute workshop, developing our Tactile Intelligence - aka seeing through the skin ; developing our Shapeshifting Ability - through a becoming hyper-aware of our hyper-local environment, we will seek transformation of our form and social position in order to increase our resiliency; and an investigation of Distributed Intelligence - the possibility of multiple humans+ inhabiting a single organism beyond negotiation, beyond collaboration: toward shared intention.

"I've studied animal behavior for 20 years, and our 90-minute workshop was the first to provide the experience of being another animal, as well as identifying the biases I bring with my human-centered viewpoint. It was truly transformative. - Douglas Blackiston (Principal Investigator at Allen Discover Center @ Tufts Unversity and Wyss Institute @ Harvard University)

On exhibition: a video excerpt from her latest work - Contact Zone (Level 1)

Contact Zone (Level 1) is an infinitely iterating computer-generated animation populated by imaged creatures generated by computer models, conjured by text-to-image AI algorithms, and captured by automated camera traps in the forest. It is accompanied by a seven-chapter soundtrack that uses sonic strategies of repetition, interruption, and release in weaving together ecological and mythological histories with philosophies of seeing, knowing, and controlling. The animation unfolds in endless permutations as the algorithm assembles the narrative order; field recordings; location, time and weather; creature actions; and camera views in ever-new variations, enabling fresh meanings to emerge.

Death And Vanilla to perform a new live soundtrack for the film ”Whistle And I’ll Come To You”, a 1968 made-for-TV ghost story.

Malmö's Death and Vanilla use vintage musical equipment such as vibraphone, organ, mellotron, tremolo guitar and Moog, to emulate the sounds of 60s/70s soundtracks, library music, German Krautrock, French Ye-ye pop and 60s psych. In 2012, they performed and recorded a live score for Carl Theodor Dreyer's 1932 classic film VAMPYR at Lunds Fantastisk Filmfestival. And in 2015, they performed and recorded a live soundtrack for Roman Polanski's 1976 film THE TENANT at the Cinemascore Cinema & Music Festival in Castellón, Spain. Both soundtracks have vinyl releases from London's Fire Records.

WHISTLE AND I'LL COME TO YOU (1968) While on vacation and exploring a Knights Templar cemetery in a remote coastal village in Norfolk, a university professor discovers an ancient whistle that awakens a horrific supernatural force.
